We met our guide in Thailand to take us over the border into Cambodia early in the morning. He is a Cambodian named Sky with awesome English and an even cooler attitude. He took us across the border and then out into the night life of Cambodia. If Thailand is chalk, Cambodia is Cheese, the life here in and out of the country side is really laid back.
People are very nice and the children are always waving to us. The food is amazing, the conditions are poor but the people are great.
Went to Angkor Wat yesterday and we were blown away. The size of the construction and the effort of digging the massive moat by hand was mind blowing. Despite having 4 hours sleep for the sunrise over the temple and a 12 hour day of walking we were still in high spirits exploring the ruins in the jungle. Tree roots growing through the walls of the temples and the carvings in every wall of the temple really make you appreciate the ancient history of this country.
Our day guide “Thong” for the temple was very knowledgeable and really friendly. We felt bad paying him $10 each for a days work but that is the way life is here and we just have to accept it.
Will definitely come back here one day. We are off to Phnom Penh today to find some more trouble.
